EXPO 2010 Shanghai - Hong Kong celebrates (07/02/2010) The "One Country, Two Systems" thematic exhibition opened at the Hong Kong Pavilion this morning to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Henry Tang Ying-yen, chief secretary for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, hosted a ceremony outside the HK Pavilion to celebrate the occasion. Healso took part in a traditional eye-dotting ceremony to kick off a ceremonial lion dance. He said the special administrative region confidently overcame many challenges since the reunification and scaled new heights with the staunch support of the central government and the mainland, as well as the concerted effort of HK people. The three-part exhibition showcases Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the establishment of the HKSAR, and the strengths of Hong Kong under the "One Country, Two Systems" concept and the Basic Law. It will run through July 15. Lion dances will also be performed outside the pavilion today and tomorrow. The HKSAR will stage some 55 promotional events, including 60-plus arts and cultural performances and exhibitions, during the six-month period to promote the city as a multicultural, vibrant and interconnected metropolis with high quality life built on creativity and innovation.
