Forum on yacht industry held in Shanghai EXPO Italy Pavilion A forum on the yacht industry was held yesterday in Italy Pavilion to discuss the economy in coastal zones and Sino-Italy yacht trade, under the theme “Re-development of seashore and nautical tourism: the boost of regional economy and society.” “As the largest yacht producer in Europe, Italy ranks first in producing super yachts over 24 meters long all over the world,” said Massimo Roscigno, Consul General of Italy in Shanghai. Italy brings advanced yacht rules to China to seek cooperation with China to develop the emerging industry, he added. “We'd like to promote a leisure lifestyle in China,” said Beniamino Quintieri, Commissioner General of Italy Pavilion in Shanghai Expo. Yang Xinfa, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry, introduced China's abundant coastline resources and great potential for developing yachting in the future. He expected both countries could share their interests and complementary advantages to propel yacht manufacturing. Italian architects presented Varazze beaches as a reconstruction model in sea-front cities. Italy Pavilion also promoted one of the world's most professional boat fairs on the forum– the 50th Genoa International Boat Show which will run from October 2 to 10.
