Mount Yuntai Henan China Travel Guide

Situated in Xiuwu County of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, Mount Yuntai has been listed in the first group of World Geological Parks for its distinguishing feature of Northern Karst Landform. Meanwhile, it is the only one scenic spot with the seven nation-level names of key National Park of China, National 5A Scenic Area, National Geological Park, National Forest Park, National Water Scenic Area and National Nature Reserve for Rhesus. The scenic area covers 190 square kilometers, including the brilliant ten sceneries, Quanpu Valley, Tanpu Valley, Hongshi Valley, Zifang Lake, Wanshan Temple, Baijia Rock, Immortals Park, Holy Peak, Diecai Cave, and Qinglong Valley. And the Yuntai Waterfall is the biggest fall in Asia.

Mount Yuntai is outstanding in its mountains. Marvelous peaks and beautiful chains of the mountains in the whole scenic area stretch continuously. Its main peak, Zhuyu Peak, is 1,304 meters above sea level. Reaching the crest of Zhuyu Peak by climbing thousands of steps of the ladder and walking through the plank roadway, you can find the towering mountains range upon range deep in the Mount Taihang in the north and a vast expanse of fertile land, fields like chessboard and ribbonlike Yellow River in the Huaichuan Plain in the south, which bring you complete freedom of heart an ease of spirit and enjoy the mood of “when you are standing on the peak, you are on top of the world”.

Mount Yuntai is marvelous in its water and famous for numerous springs, waterfalls and pools. As the highest waterfall in China, Yuntai Waterfall with a fall of 314 meters, which is like a jade column that could prop up the sky, is splendid and spectacular. Tianmen Waterfall, Whitelong Pool, Yellowlong Waterfall and Y Waterfall, are the particular waterfall wonders of the Mountain. The cool and sweet water of Multihole Spring, Pearl Spring, Wanglie Spring and Moon Spring, attracts visitors not to tear themselves away. Qinglong Gorge enjoys a reputation as the first gorge the Central Plain of China. It is the best place for ecotourism because of its unique climate, plentiful water and primeval vegetation well protected.

Admission Fee:
For the peak season (Mar-Nov), the cost is 180 rmb for one person. For the slack season (Dec-Feb), the cost is 120 rmb for one person. The ticket is valid for 2 days. Free for aged (>70). 50% off for the students.(need a student ID)

Transportation:
Mount Yuntai – Zhengzhou: 98 km, Mount Yuntai – Kaifeng: 160 km, Mount Yuntai – Luoyang: 120 km, Mount Yuntai – Xinxiang: 60 km, Mount Yuntai – Anyang: 160 km, Mount Yuntai – Jincheng: 80 km, Moungt Yuntai – Changye: 120 km, Mount Yuntai – Jiyuan: 70 km.
For the tourists, you can fly to Zhengzhou or Luoyang first, then transfer to a bus. If you prefer the train, you can get to Jiaozuo first. There are direct trains connecting Jiaozuo with Beijing, Jinan, Taiyuan,Lianyungang,Xuzhou,Chongqing,Nanyang.
Jiaozuo – Mount Yuntai: It is about 30 km and takes about 45 minutes. You can take a taxi and the cost is about 60 rmb.

Accommodations:
Mount Yuntai has 5 Service Areas: Wujiatai, Gudongyao, Qianheishi, Houheishi, Anshang. You can find bus stations (for the Mount Yuntai tourism bus) in these service areas. Hostels here cost 45 – 80 rmb for a person. If you don’t like the hostels, you can choose the hotels in Jiaozuo. It is easy to find 3 stars or 4 stars hotels in Jiaozuo and the cost is about 200-400 rmb.

Holidays of Mount Yuntai:
(1). Mount Yuntai Waterfall Holiday: Aug-Sep, You can have a better view of this biggest fall of Asia during this period of time. If you are lucky, you can get some gifts if you choose to visit Mount Yuntai on Aug or Sep.
(2). Double Ninth Festival:The 9th day of the 9th lunar month is the traditional Chongyang Festival, or Double Ninth Festival. It usually falls in October in the Gregorian calendar.
