Capitalized in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture is one of the eight autonomous prefectures in Yunnan Province. It borders Pu’er City to the northeast and northwest, Laos to the southeast, and Myanmar to the southwest, seeing the national border stretching 966.3 kilometers. How to Plan a Xishuangbanna Yunnan Tour

Generally, a 3-4 days trip to Xishuangbanna is suitable to cover its classic attractions and activities. Three days are enough for a classic Xishuangbanna tour to experience the tropical Botanical Garden, Wild Elephant Valley, Jinghong Primitive Forest Park, Manting Park, and Starlight Night Market. With one or two more days, you can add Wangtianshu Scenic Area or Nannuo Mountain for a tea culture tour in Xishuangbanna and enjoy more free time to immerse yourself in local culture and life.

For an in-depth experience of local culture and natural beauty, planning for 5 to 6 days or even longer is recommended. As direct flights to Xishuangbanna are relatively limited, many travelers choose to fly to Kunming first and then take a flight or high-speed train (in about 4-5 hours) from Kunming to Xishuangbanna. So, it is also popular to travel to Kunming and Xishuangbanna on one trip. Consider staying 1-3 days in Kunming before getting to Xishuangbanna.

Located in a tropical monsoon climate zone, Xishuangbanna enjoys a warm and humid climate year-round, with only two distinct seasons: the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October.
